Asked and answered
Thirteen Questions
The ones the desk actually gets. Several are answered with a plain no, and those are the useful ones.
The thirteen
Each is answered in two parts: the short answer, then where the rest of it is written down.
Is a quote really free?
Yes, and it puts you under no obligation of any kind. Nothing is paid to this desk at any point, by anybody, for anything, and no page of this site carries a field for a card.
The block that carries that claim is the request form on booking, which says it in its first line. It is the only one of the nine advertising claims this site states.
Why are there no prices anywhere on this site?
Because this desk has no agreement with any operator, so it has no tariff of its own. Any figure printed here would be one somebody invented, and a traveler who planned around it would find out at the curb.
What a quote contains instead is a range from the operators who actually answered, with what each covers. Who owns each part of the price splits the money five ways and shows that only one row is answerable from here.
Can you promise a price that will not move?
No. That promise has two halves: the number does not move, and whoever gave it absorbs the difference when the day goes badly. Only the party that owns the tariff and carries the risk can make it, and this desk is not that party.
Why nothing here is called fixed sets it out. It is the phrase readers ask for most often, and it is refused in writing rather than quietly left out.
Do you watch my flight?
No. Nothing at this desk watches a flight. There is no screen, no feed, no alert and nobody assigned to look. A schedule that slips produces no change here unless somebody tells the desk.
The number is recorded and passed to the operator, because some operators do watch arrivals with their own systems for their own jobs. Whether the one who takes your job does is theirs to say. The entry that says so.
Are your drivers licensed and insured?
This desk has no drivers. It owns no vehicle, employs nobody who drives, and holds no operating permit or vehicle insurance, so it states nothing about being licensed or insured. That number is printed on no page here, and the only way one could be would be to make it up.
The operator who takes a job answers for its own permits and its own cover. This desk will not describe somebody else's regulatory standing, because it has inspected nobody's paperwork. A desk and a fleet is the whole division.
Are you connected to the airport?
No. Pinnace is an independent booking desk. No airline, hotel, airport, airport operator or government body endorses it, sponsors it, or is connected to it, and it speaks for none of them. It holds no permit there, no counter, no allocated space and no queue position.
The field is owned by two cities and run by its own board, and it sits outside the city limits of both. That is stated once on service areas as a plain fact and nowhere used as a suggestion of a relationship.
Is the booking line answered at any hour?
No. The desk is staffed Monday to Saturday, 7 am to 7 pm Central, and when the desk is shut a request simply sits in the mailbox until it opens again. A line answered around the clock is not among the things this site states, for exactly that reason.
For a change on the morning of a journey the telephone during posted hours is the route that works. Writing outside hours is fine and it will not be read until the desk opens.
What do I actually get when I book?
The request written down in full, put to transfer companies covering this county, every answer reported back unedited, the job placed with whichever you choose, and the operator's own details sent on.
What you do not get from this desk is a vehicle, a driver, or a price it set. Services lists the five inclusions and the four refusals side by side.
What does it cost to change or cancel?
Nothing at this desk, at any notice, ever, including at the curb. There is no fee here because no money passes through here.
What an operator does once it has allocated a driver is its own arrangement, which is why free changes and cancellation are not among the things this site states. Changes and cancellation sets out both sides.
How long does an answer take?
Two posted working days from request to written answer, sometimes three. The desk does not promise faster, because the answers are not its to speed up.
Anything ambiguous gets a query first, usually by telephone, which is why the number field on the form is worth filling in even though it is optional.
Do you cover Dallas Love Field, or Meacham, or Alliance?
No. One county and one field: Tarrant County and Dallas Fort Worth International. The others are named once on service areas as exclusions and are not offered.
Coverage across the country is not among the things this site states, for the same reason. One county is not a network, and claiming a region this desk has no operators in would be promising with somebody else's fleet.
What happens if I turn up with an extra bag?
Space is the one constraint that cannot be negotiated at the curb. Told the evening before it is usually absorbed; discovered at the curb the driver either cannot take it or takes it in a way nobody is pleased with.
This desk owns no vehicles, so it has no second car to send. Saying that plainly is more useful than promising a rescue. A piece nobody counted is the entry.
Does this site track me?
No. No page carries code that counts anything, and there is nobody outside this domain to count it for: the stylesheet, the script, the pictures and both typefaces are all served from here.
Three rows on the privacy policy cover everything that is kept, and the storage word in your own browser is the only one of the three that never leaves your machine. No page here carries a field for a card.
